AIFF Clarifies Subhasish’s Injury Occurred in ISL Final, Not Asian Cup Qualifiers

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) cleared the air about the recent controversy surrounding Subhasish Bose. Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s captain, Subhasish Bose, was not injured during the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier match against Bangladesh in March, but during the Indian Super League final on April 12th. The clarification came in a letter written to the Kolkata club by AIFF Deputy General Secretary, M Satyanarayan.

The AIFF criticized Mohun Bagan Super Giant for not informing the national federation about Bose’s injury sustained during the ISL final and clarified that the club had not undertaken any investigations or rehab during the one month layoff post-injury.

Meanwhile, there has been increasing tension between AIFF and Mohun Bagan Super Giant, as the club refused to release players for the national camp ahead of the CAFA Nations Cup. The club accused AIFF of negligence regarding player welfare, claiming that almost three to four players return injured after every national duty, with the federation showing little concern.
