Anthony Rizzo Enjoys Family Time with Beer at Yankee Stadium…

Anthony Rizzo, famed Major League Baseball player, was seen enjoying a night at Yankee Stadium with his wife, Emily Vakos, and their baby before announcing his sudden retirement. This former New York Yankees player was featured on the stadium’s Jumbotron, chugging a Bud Light beer. This came shortly before the Chicago Cubs announced that Rizzo was stepping back from Major League Baseball to return as a Cubs ambassador.

This last night at the Yankee Stadium marks the end of Rizzo’s stint with the New York Yankees, which lasted from 2021 to 2024. He was paid a $6 million buyout when the Yankees declined his $17 million option for the 2025 season, making him a free agent. During that final night at the Yankee Stadium, he enjoyed the game with his family, laughing, smiling, and waving to the crowd in response to their cheers when he showed up on the big screen.

A ten-season veteran with the Cubs, Rizzo joined the team in 2012 after leaving the San Diego Padres. He quickly became a beloved figure amongst local fans, particularly following the team’s 2016 World Series victory. He had driven in 109 runs that year, the highest for the team, earning him three All-Star selections and four Gold Glove Awards as a first baseman.

Rizzo’s off-field life has also been significant. He met his wife, Emily Vakos, while playing for the Cubs. After a June 2017 engagement, they married in December 2018. Earlier this year, they announced their first pregnancy on Instagram, complete with their dog Kevin donning a “Big Brother” bandana and ultrasound photos and a onesie for “Baby Rizzo”. The arrival of their baby during the summer was not publicly shared.

After 14 MLB seasons, 303 career home runs, and 965 driven-in runs with the Padres, Cubs, and Yankees, Anthony Rizzo now embarks on a new life chapter as a father, husband, and ambassador for the Cubs.
