India’s hockey team crushed Kazakhstan 15-0 in the Asia Cup, finishing top of Pool A
The Indian hockey team delivered an impressive performance by defeating world No.87 Kazakhstan, the lowest ranked team in the Asia Cup, 15-0 in their final Pool A match at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Playing under lights for the first time in the tournament, the team led by Harmanpreet Singh easily overcame Kazakhstan, who, along with Bangladesh, participated after Pakistan and Oman withdrew.
Forward Abhishek made an impact with four goals (5th, 8th, 20th, 59th), while Sukhjeet Singh (15th, 32nd, 38th) and drag-flicker Jugraj Singh (24th, 31st, 47th) both secured hat-tricks. Skipper Harmanpreet (26th), Amit Rohidas (29th), Rajinder Singh (32nd), Sanjay (54th), and Dilpreet Singh (55th) also contributed goals. Rajinder marked his first international goal, and Harmanpreet secured his sixth tournament goal.
“With respect to Kazakhstan, it was a challenging game. Despite having secured the Super 4s position, playing at an optimal tempo without incurring injuries was crucial. Mission accomplished,” stated India chief coach Craig Fulton.
“Playing successive matches is extremely challenging, but we are prepared for these back-to-back games.”
As a result of this victory, India topped Pool A with nine points after defeating Japan 3-2. China reached the Super 4s due to a better goal difference after drawing 2-2 against Japan, with both teams finishing with four points. Japan and Kazakhstan (0 points) will compete in the 5-8 position playoffs.
From Pool B, Malaysia (9) and South Korea (6) advanced to the Super 4s, while Bangladesh (3) and Chinese Taipei (0) will compete for the 5-8 positions.
India faces defending champions South Korea on Wednesday.
