A recent interview with Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, revealed a special moment during the birth of his daughter, Golden Raye with his wife, Brittany. The interview, part of a teaser clip for the Disney+ sports docuseries “The Kingdom”, was shared by ESPN on August 14, 2025.

Mahomes disclosed that Golden was born on January 12, 2024, during his team’s bye week. Emphasizing his commitment to his career, he proudly stated that he did not miss any playoff games even when Brittany was in labor.

Sharing the unique timing of Golden’s birth, Mahomes explained that Brittany went into labor right after one playoff game had ended and Golden Raye was born before their team’s next playoff game began. The dedicated player was able to stay with his wife in the hospital room and simultaneously keep up with the games.

The family’s light-hearted and relaxed demeanor was evident during the interview. While holding their newborn, Brittany humorously noted that Golden Raye “did not smell like her diaper needed to be changed.”

In the interview, Mahomes also mentioned that they had consulted with the Kansas City Chiefs’ medical staff before the season began, hoping for Golden’s due date to coincide with the team’s bye week. As it turned out, their wish was fulfilled with Golden being born during the short break in games.

Brittany Mahomes was back in action quickly too. Six days after delivering Golden, she was spotted at a live game, the Kansas City Chiefs versus Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium. She sported a cream-colored Chiefs coat with Patrick’s number 15 on the side and cheered on from the sidelines.

Discussing their plans for the future, Patrick expressed the couple’s desire for three children, hinting at the possibility of another baby in the future.
