Bengals Entertain Trade Offers for Trey Hendrickson Amidst Contract Negotiations | NFL News Times of India”

Rumors about Trey Hendrickson’s trade are escalating as the Cincinnati Bengals are purportedly open to offers amid contract discussions. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport announced on August 17, 2025, that the Bengals are receiving trade offers for Hendrickson, a defensive end who has been with the team since 2021. However, considering his contract discussions are at a halt with both parties at an impasse, he might potentially be moved if no extension is agreed upon.

Hendrickson’s trade interest is growing as contract negotiations with the Bengals have stalled. Despite the team not meeting his terms, the thirty-year-old seems to desire more guaranteed money. He is reportedly participating in Cincinnati’s training camp meetings but is yet to start his physical training, a situation known as a “hold-in”.

NFL insiders suggest that teams including the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts have expressed interest in trading for Hendrickson. Any such deal is expected to be costly and might involve a young player and a future draft pick. It is reported that Hendrickson was previously allowed by the Bengals to explore trade options in March.

Hendrickson, one of the league’s top pass rushers, collected 17.5 sacks last year, the highest in the NFL, which led to his fourth Pro Bowl selection. He has accumulated 70.5 sacks in the past five years. However, he is in the last year of his contract, estimated to be around $16 million in 2025. Hendrickson is reportedly seeking a long-term agreement with guaranteed financial compensation.

However, the Bengals have already spent heavily on their quarterback Joe Burrow ($275 million), wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase ($161 million), and wide receiver Tee Higgins ($115 million), which might make it hard for them to meet Hendrickson’s demands. The Bengals must decide whether to trade their best pass rusher or negotiate a new contract before the start of the 2025 NFL season.
