Brady’s Jibe Ignites Fury Among Jets Fans, Shakes NFL Stadium
NFL legend Tom Brady reignited his rivalry with the New York Jets during the unveiling of his 12-foot bronze statue outside Gillette Stadium. Despite his retirement, Brady’s competitive spirit against the Jets was on full display as he jokingly suggested that the statue would serve as a target for disgruntled Jets fans to throw their beers at as they exit the stadium.
Brady, one of the most iconic figures in American Football, took the opportunity at the unveiling ceremony to express gratitude towards his fans and also teased his long-term AFC East rivals. Known for his sharp wit, Brady delivered a biting one-liner directed at the Jets fans. “This statue isn’t just for Pats fans,” Brady quipped. “It will also give all the Jets fans something to throw their beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter. Maybe the third.”
The taunt he made reflects the historical dominance of the New England Patriots over the Jets during his tenure from 2000 to 2019. Under Brady’s leadership, the Patriots managed to rise to the top of the AFC East nearly every season with the Jets only winning a single division title during this period (2002).
Brady’s retirement hasn’t quieted his playful jabs at his former rivals. Earlier this year, he also took a shot at the Indianapolis Colts fans. Jets fans, as well as others, should probably expect more of these burns from Brady in the future. As for Brady’s prediction about Jets fans throwing beers, we will have to wait and see.
