Carter Hart Proposes Exiting Flyers Amid Growing Disarray | NHL News – Times of India

Former Philadelphia Flyers goalie, Carter Hart, is reportedly gearing up for a return to the NHL, though his next team will not be the Flyers. NHL insider Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports that Hart, aged 27, is expected to finalize a deal with a new NHL team by October 1, with his contract set to officially register starting from October 15.

Hart’s main priorities include a fresh start, maximum playing time, and playing for a team with a winning potential. Johnston reports that Hart’s desire for a new start effectively rules out a return to Philadelphia. The Flyers, who currently have a roster full of experienced goalies such as Sam Ersson, Dan Vladar, Aleksei Kolosov, and Ivan Fedotov, are not in a position to offer Hart the opportunities he desires.

Since the Flyers are not in contention and have no room for more goalies, Hart is expected to sign a two or three-year deal. If both parties are satisfied, an extension as early as the summer of 2026 could be possible. Hart reportedly prefers a US-based team, thereby narrowing down the list of possible options. Rumors about a move to Edmonton have also been refuted.

Hart has not played any competitive matches since his last NHL game on January 20, during which a 7-4 loss to Colorado was experienced. His reinstatement terms allow him to practice with his new team from October 15 to November 15 before he can potentially enter an AHL conditioning stint.

As Hart’s career continues, fans await the next chapter and to see which team he will end up with, marking a fresh start to his professional journey.
