Celtics Splash Millions in Rapid Trades for RJ Luis Jr, Chris Boucher
The Boston Celtics have made significant moves to enhance their frontcourt. New rookie RJ Luis Jr and free agent forward Chris Boucher have joined the team. As part of these transformations, the sports team sent Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz.
RJ Luis Jr, who wasn’t selected in the 2025 NBA Draft, had an impressive season in St John, averaging 18.2 points per game along with 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals. Meanwhile, 32-year-old Chris Boucher, who previously played with the Toronto Raptors, adds much-needed size to the Celtics lineup. He averaged 10.0 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.5 blocks in the previous season.
After moving to the Western Conference, Niang’s contract will now be incorporated into the Celtics’ trade exception from the John Collins deal. This change will provide Boston with additional salary flexibility.
One fan commented on these developments, expressing that the Celtics effectively swapped Georges Niang and the rights for two second-round picks for Boucher and RJ Luis Jr. There are positive expectations for the performance of these new players in their future games.
