Controversial Phillies Fan Offered $5,000 for Seized Kid’s…
The Philadelphia Phillies fan who infamously snatched a home run ball from a child is now being offered $5,000 for its return—but there’s a catch. The woman, dubbed “Phillies Karen,” is required to publicly apologize before she can collect the cash.
The incident caught media attention when a confrontation at a Phillies game involving a disputed home run ball turned into a public ordeal. The saga includes a disgruntled fan, a spoiled birthday surprise, and a financial offer tied to an embarrassing condition.
A leading sports collectibles retailer, Blowout Cards, is offering $5,000 for the return of the Harrison Bader home run ball, originally caught by 10-year-old Phillies fan Lincoln Feltwell. However, the company has one specific condition for Karen, “We will pay you $5,000 for the ball, we only ask that you autograph it ‘I’m sorry,’” they reportedly wrote on their website.
The controversy started when Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run during a match against the Miami Marlins. The ball, caught by Drew Feltwell in celebration of his son Lincoln’s birthday, was subsequently snatched by Karen, who claimed it was hers. To avoid conflict, Feltwell surrendered the ball.
Despite the unpleasant encounter, the incident took a positive turn. The Miami Marlins gifted Lincoln and his sister a bag of merchandise, and Philadelphia Phillies arranged for Lincoln to meet Bader who presented him with a signed bat. Marcus Lemonis, the CEO of Camping World, also added to the situation by offering the Feltwell family a trip to the World Series and an RV.
The saga further unwound as internet users attempted to uncover the woman’s identity, leading to a wave of false rumours. Despite the twist and turns of the event, Drew Feltwell believes the night ended on a positive note.
Now the Harrison Bader home run ball is at the center of a $5,000 offer, but only if “Phillies Karen” humbles herself and agrees to write “I’m sorry” on it. It remains to be seen whether the woman will agree to these terms or keep the ball.
