Derrick Rose’s NBA Retirement: Chicago Bulls Retire No. 1 Jersey in Farewell Tribute

The Chicago Bulls have officially announced plans to retire Derrick Rose’s No. 1 jersey on January 24, 2026, to honour the NBA legend.

The team made the announcement with a significant amount of anticipation, as the event, aptly called “Derrick Rose Jersey Retirement Night,” will take place nearly two and a half years after the player’s retirement on September 26, 2024. The Bulls have planned to further commemorate the various stages of Rose’s career with giveaways, featuring collectible figurines and more.

Derrick Rose, a former MVP, will become the fifth player to be recognized in the history of the franchise. This prestigious retirement ceremony will include the retirement of his number and tributes to his career. The Chicago Bulls will also continue to honour Rose by distributing figurine collectibles during four additional games in the 2025-26 season.

Rose started his career with the Chicago Bulls as their number one draft pick and quickly made an impact, his role in the 2011 season transforming the team. His achievements include three All-Star nods, becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history, and leading the Bulls to the Eastern Conference title for three consecutive seasons. As such, his jersey retirement symbolizes the acknowledgment and celebration of his immense contribution to the team and the sport.
