Detroit Lions’ Morice Norris Reports ‘All Good’ Post-Injury in Preseason Clash with Atlanta Falcons” | NFL News Times of India
The Detroit Lions’ safety Morice Norris has confirmed he’s in good health after a chilling injury during the preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. The game, held at Mercedes–Benz Stadium, was halted when Norris suffered a severe hit, requiring him to be taken off-field in an ambulance.
The incident happened with 14:50 left in the fourth quarter when Norris went for a tackle against Falcons’ rookie Nathan Carter. The impact made Norris’s head snap back, and he was on-field for medical treatment for almost 20 minutes before being driven to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Despite both teams showing unity on the field during the delay, the game eventually got suspended on account of the situation. Detroit Lions head coach, Dan Campbell mentioned that the decision to halt came from the coaching teams rather than the league office, echoing sentiments that it didn’t feel right to continue the game under such circumstances.
Lions’ quarterback Kyle Allen noted that it was clear the situation was severe when the stretchers rushed out. He also mentioned that he didn’t think anyone on the sideline wanted to continue the game after witnessing the incident. Falcons’ wide receiver Casey Washington concurred, emphasizing that a player’s life is paramount and greater than the game itself.
As per the Lions, Norris, 24, who joined the team as a free agent from Fresno State in 2024, stayed the night at the hospital for observation. Providing an update on his health through Instagram, Norris assured everyone that he was in good health and appreciated all the concern and love. Coach Campbell affirmed that Norris’s mother, Francina Pleasant, was with him at the hospital.
Campbell noted the incident as an eye-opener, reminding everyone about the violent nature of the game and the importance of brotherhood. He praised both teams for coming together in concern for a fellow player. According to Campbell, it was evident that night that the priority was ensuring the well-being of a teammate over winning or losing the game.
