Dwyane Wade Honored to Induct Carmelo Anthony into 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame
Dwyane Wade has been chosen to present Carmelo Anthony at his induction into the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame. Anthony’s introduction to the Hall of Fame had previously been announced in April 2025. The former Los Angeles Lakers’ star picked two NBA icons, Wade and Allen Iverson, to welcome him into the prestigious Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in the following month.
Wade, a former point guard himself, expressed his gratitude to Anthony through social media. The 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame class will be officially inducted and announced in front of several other Hall of Famers in September. Among those included in this class will be Anthony, a Denver Nuggets’ legend and notable member of Team USA.
The names of presenters for the 2025 Naismith Hall of Fame were publicly announced days earlier. According to a report by Ian Begley from SNY, “Carmelo Anthony has chosen Hall of Famers Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson as presenters for his forthcoming induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.”
Following these announcements, Wade went to Instagram to share a post, where he expressed how honoured he felt about the appointment. The ties between Wade and Anthony go beyond their professional careers. They’ve been allies on Team USA and are long-time friends and former Olympic teammates. Despite their restricted collaboration on the NBA court, they were part of the top offensive teams of their time. Over time, their friendship flourished, with Wade even referring to Anthony as a “brother”.
Meanwhile, Anthony also expressed his own sentiments about the honour, noting his pride and respect for achieving the pinnacle of his basketball career. The induction ceremony, wherein the presenters will salute the inductees before their entrance into the Naismith Hall of Fame, will take place in Springfield, Massachusetts, on September 6.
