In a thrilling encounter on Sunday, England secured another Women’s European Championship title by defeating Spain in a nail-biting penalty shootout.

Chloe Kelly fired in the decisive penalty for England, who won 3-1 in the shootout following a pulsating 1-1 draw after extra time.
Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton played a heroic role by saving shots from Mariona Caldentey and the formidable Aitana Bonmati. Spain’s Salma Paralluelo also missed her attempt.
The defending champions showcased tenacity, coming from behind in the first half, and leveling in the second through Alessia Russo’s header from Chloe Kelly’s cross, after Spain initially took the lead through Mariona Caldentey.
Despite Spain’s stellar performance throughout the tournament, their hopes of winning a first European title were dashed in the shootout.
Chloe Kelly, who previously scored the extra-time winner against Germany at Wembley three years ago, delivered once again under pressure.
