Former NFL RB Doug Martin’s Cause of Death Unveiled: Fatal Outcome Post-Break-in Incident, Became Unresponsive During Arrest
Doug Martin, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back, has died at the age of 36 following an incident involving the Oakland Police. Martin had been involved in a break-in at an Oakland residence and subsequently became unresponsive after a struggle during his arrest. Later, he passed away at the hospital. Martin’s former agency, Athletes First, revealed that he had been grappling with mental health issues and left his residence in distress before the incident. They also stated his parents were actively seeking medical assistance for him.
Before the tragic incident, Martin was a standout at Boise State University and was a first-round pick by the Buccaneers in 2012. In his first season, he ran for 1,454 yards and scored 11 touchdowns, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl. His rookie season saw him posting the third-most scrimmage yards in NFL history. He played six seasons at Tampa Bay and made it to the Pro Bowl in 2015. Buccaneers named him as one of the franchise’s top 50 players.
His death is currently under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section, Internal Affairs, the Oakland City Police Commission, and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
