Gabrielle Union Reveals Family’s Financial Fears Due to Dwyane Wade’s NBA Influence

Gabrielle Union, wife of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, has previously revealed that her family had concerns about their relationship. The two met each other at a time when they were both recovering from failed marriages. At first, Gabrielle’s family was not trusting of Dwyane.

In an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2021, Union spoke about her family’s initial uncertainties about her relationship with Wade. Kimmel asked if her family was worried that “Dwyane was gonna take your money”. Union responded affirmatively, explaining that it was due to her first marriage experience which had left her financially “lighter”.

Union was earlier married to ex-NFL player Chris Howard, which ended up costing her a large amount of money in the divorce. This led to considerable distrust from her family when Union began dating Wade. However, these initial concerns were eventually allayed.

Despite their initial challenges, the couple got married in 2014 and continues to remain strong. Even though they have faced many hurdles, such as struggles to conceive and Wade’s cancer diagnosis, their love for each other remains unwavering.
