Gambhir Faces Criticism Head-On for Shubman Gill’s Performance

The head coach for Team India, Gautam Gambhir, made a strong statement in support of Shubman Gill. Gambhir stated that he is ready to shoulder all criticism in order to protect the young captain. This statement was made in response to Gill’s recent appointment as Test captain following Rohit Sharma’s retirement.

Despite challenging circumstances, Gill lead India to a balanced 2-2 draw in the five-match series against England. Gautam Gambhir, who hosted the India players at his residence, expressed his unwavering support for Gill.

In addition to his role as Test captain, Gill took on the role of vice-captain for the T20I side during the Asia Cup, successfully leading India to victory over Pakistan in the final. Gill was further appointed to the role of India’s ODI captain shortly before the series against Australia.

When speaking of Gill’s leadership, Gambhir claimed that while he is interested to see how Gill will react when things don’t go his way, he is fully committed to supporting, backing, and protecting Gill. He believes that as long as Gill is doing the best for his team and maintaining transparency and honesty, Gambhir is ready to absorb any related pressure or criticism.

He concluded his sentiments by stating, “What more can a coach ask for from a captain who’s ticked all the boxes and is willing to put everything on the line?”
