Grateful Farewell: Marco Belinelli Retires After 23-Year Basketball Career

Former NBA champion Marco Belinelli has announced his retirement from basketball at the age of 39 via social media. The Italian player, who spent an impressive 23 years in professional basketball, ends his career with numerous accolades under his belt.

Throughout his career, Belinelli has won four Italian Supercups, one Italian Cup, and has been given multiple All-Lega Serie A team selections. He was also recognized for his leadership skills and shooting accuracy during his NBA tenure.

Belinelli shared a heartwarming Instagram post where he reminisced about his career. Comprising of images, uniforms, and newspaper clippings, he described his journey as “nothing more beautiful”.

Following his sentimental post, Belinelli formally announced his retirement through a video message on social media. In an emotional caption, he expressed his gratitude towards basketball and acknowledged its vital role in his life. Belinelli had earlier hinted about his forthcoming retirement in June.

Belinelli, who was an integral part of the Philadelphia 76ers, concluded his 13-year NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2019-20 season, and then returned overseas. He has played a significant role in basketball and will be missed by many. Belinelli is now preparing to embark on a new chapter of his life.
