Harbhajan Singh Defends Jasprit Bumrah, Lauds Siraj Amidst Criticism

Harbhajan Singh, the veteran India spinner, has defended Jasprit Bumrah against arguments surrounding his absence in the final Test against England. Bumrah, who faced scrutiny for his workload management on the England tour, had previously agreed to participate only in three of the five-match series. Singh lauded Bumrah’s honesty and self-awareness, asserting that Bumrah understands his physical limits, particularly post injury.

Harbhajan emphasized on the term “workload” that refers to a bowler’s solo efforts, like Bumrah’s in Australia, where he took the burden for the entire team. He also pointed out the physical toll on fast bowlers and while Mohammed Siraj recently shouldered extra workload it is not sustainable throughout the year. He stressed on the importance of a player’s honesty in these situations. A number of other former cricketers had criticized Bumrah for selectively playing matches for workload management.
