Harmanpreet Singh Dedicates Asia Cup Triumph to India’s Resilient Flood Victims
India’s recent victory in the Hockey Asia Cup 2025, after an eight-year gap, represents more than just a sporting achievement. It offers a ray of hope during a period overshadowed by devastating floods in many parts of India. Harmanpreet Singh, the team captain, stated, “We, as a team, dedicate this win to the people of India who are currently enduring the severe aftermath of the floods.”

Harmanpreet further expressed, “Winning the Asia Cup after eight long years on our home soil fills us with immense pride. However, our thoughts are with the flood victims and their families. We deeply admire the Indian Army, NDRF, rescue volunteers, and frontline workers for their relentless efforts in helping the victims and working towards the rehabilitation of our vibrant states.”
Reflecting on the preparation and mindset required for this victory, Harmanpreet highlighted, “This success is the result of months of hard work, discipline, and our unity as a team. Every member deserves credit.”
In addition to the Asia Cup victory, the team celebrates a step closer to their dream of winning the World Cup next year, as this triumph also secured their direct entry into the tournament. Harmanpreet emphasized, “Securing our qualification for the FIH World Cup 2026 through this victory is significant. We are committed to maintaining this momentum and are focused on winning the World Cup—a dream that has gone unrealized for over five decades.”
