The Columbus Blue Jackets have augmented their forward depth with the signing of seasoned winger Hudson Fasching to a one-year, two-way contract, providing the team with a reliable, experienced option for their bottom-six forward group.

General manager, Don Waddell, praised Fasching for his work ethic, size, and adaptability. He referred to him as a high-character player who can step in during crunch times and provide value throughout the lineup.

Hudson Fasching offers depth and experience to the Columbus Blue Jackets line up. The 30-year-old has played 175 NHL games, and has accumulated 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points. The seasoned player, originally drafted by Los Angeles Kings in NHL’s 2013 Draft, has featured for the Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes, and recently New York Islanders.

While with the Islanders, Fasching demonstrated his worth as a depth forward, participating in at least 43 regular-season matches for the past three years. The Minnesota-born player was also a standout at the University of Minnesota prior to turning professional, where he garnered 94 points in 115 NCAA games. His résumé sees an addition of international experience, representing the United States at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2014 and 2015.

The Blue Jackets have continued their offseason emphasis on forward depth strengthening and roster movements. Accompanying Fasching’s recruitment, the club acquired Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood from the Colorado Avalanche this summer. While Fasching might commence the season as a healthy extra or in the American Hockey League (AHL), his readiness for lineup insertion, when required, grants considerable stability.

Columbus Blue Jackets express optimism for the 2025-26 season following a 40-33-9 record last year. With a promising young core and key offseason inclusions, the club has become a trendy pick to resurrect their Stanley Cup Playoffs return. Fasching’s role may not be prime, but his signing underpins Columbus’ commitment to organizational depth and preparedness for a lengthy season.

Though Fasching might not play regularly, his arrival on a one-year, two-way deal grants Columbus Blue Jackets a seasoned, versatile option for their bottom-six forward group. His presence ensures the team is well equipped to manage injuries and lineup changes, enhancing their push towards playoff reentry.
