Indian Women Boxers Triumph with Four Medals at World…

India’s women boxers shone at the World Boxing Championships, winning four medals, including two gold, one silver, and one bronze. All the medals came from the women’s contingent, indicating the rising prominence of female boxers in India.

Firstly, Minakshi Hooda, a 24-year-old from Rohtak’s Rurki village, secured the women’s 48 kg gold, defeating Kazakhstan’s seasoned boxer Nazym Kyzaibay in a 4-1 split verdict. This victory was a redemption for Minakshi who had earlier lost to Kyzaibay in the World Boxing Cup final just three months prior.

Jaismine Lamboria also secured a gold medal in the 57 kg category. Her victory over Julia Szeremeta of Poland was a brilliant show of determination and counter-punching. Nupur Sheoran’s silver in +80 kg and Pooja Rani’s bronze in 80 kg further contributed to India’s impressive medal tally at the Championships.

Minakshi’s journey to gold is a story of resilience and determination. Hailing from a poor family in a small village of Haryana, she pursued her boxing dreams against several odds. Despite initial opposition from her family and economic constraints, Minakshi refused to give up her boxing dreams and transformed from a timid schoolgirl into a fearless fighter.

Jaismine’s victory was forged out of pure grit and determination. Despite Julia Szeremeta using her reach and power to her advantage, Jaismine held her ground tightly and released fiery combinations to stagger the Polish contender. In the end, the scoreboard read 4-1 in favor of Jaismine, unfolding a memorable victory for her.

Nupur Sheoran and Pooja Rani also put up tough fights in their respective matches but had to settle for silver and bronze. Nonetheless, their performances added immense value to India’s overall performance at the Championships. The victories of India’s women boxers at the World Championships signal a promising future for women’s boxing in the country.
