Jannik Sinner won’t receive the ATP’s Bonus Pool prize due to events missed during his doping suspension.

ATP world number one Jannik Sinner is projected to miss a substantial financial reward. The Italian player’s earlier suspension in 2025, along with missing key tournaments, means he’s likely excluded from a share of the £15.5 million Bonus Pool for top male tennis players.

The ATP introduced a scheme in 2023 where the thirty top points scorers in the Masters 1000 series are awarded a portion of a £15.5 million prize pool. With only 9 such events a year, participatory commitment is crucial.

Sinner is currently 16th in the rankings, having skipped five tournaments including the ongoing Cincinnati Masters. His only appearances this season have been at the Rome Masters, where he was a finalist, and now in Ohio.

Why Sinner is ineligible for the prize money

For high-profile participation, the ATP mandates eligibility requirements: missing more than four mandatory Masters Series events disqualifies one from the bonus pool. Sinner has missed the Masters in Miami, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Toronto, ruling him out.

His suspension affected attendance at the initial three, during which no Grand Slam was skipped, but critical events were. He also missed the Rogers Cup in Toronto, with the French Open and Wimbledon triumphs contributing to his absence.

Sinner also skipped the Monte Carlo Masters, although it’s not mandatory due to its smaller draw. Last year, he clinched the top Bonus Pool spot, but won’t claim a share this time.

Currently, Carlos Alcaraz holds a 500-point lead in the Bonus Pool standings, followed by Brit Jack Draper and Italian Lorenzo Musetti.
