Jason Collins, First Openly Gay NBA Player, Starts Treatment for Brain Tumor
Jason Collins, the first openly gay man in a major U.S. professional sports league, is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, the NBA has confirmed. During his 13-year career in the NBA, Collins played for several teams, including the New Jersey Nets, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Washington Wizards. He retired in 2014 after publicly sharing his sexuality a year prior. Since his retirement, Collins has remained a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports.
