Jerry Jones Prioritizes Team Dynamics over Micah Parsons Extension | NFL News Times of India

The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, has not committed to a timeline for extending the contract of Micah Parsons, the team’s rising start on defense. In an interview with Fox News, Jones praised Parsons’ skill, but stressed that assembling a team is akin to putting together a puzzle, implying that balancing multiple star players is crucial.

Jones did not hold back in expressing Parsons’ exceptional abilities, calling him a “great” player. However, he then emphasized that every individual in the team has a role to play. The statement may hint that while Parsons indeed holds significant value, the Cowboys won’t compromise their roster just to appease one star player.

Negotiations with Parsons seem to have reached a standstill, with no significant interaction with Parsons’ team since spring. With earlier this month Parsons showing his frustration by requesting a trade, the situation keeps escalating. Jones, refraining from revealing whether a deal is imminent, has only heightened the tension. Despite this, it is expected that Parsons will play in the Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

On a promising note, Terrence, Parsons’ brother, assures that Micah continues to be devoted to the Cowboys, despite the chaotic negotiations. If no agreement is confirmed, Parsons will have to continue playing on his rookie contract. As it currently stands, Jones appears unwilling to upset his salary cap for one player’s benefit irrespective of his talent. However, if the situation completely deteriorates, it’s believed that the Dallas Cowboys can fetch at least two first-round picks if they decide to trade Parsons.
