John Wall kickstarts new career with Prime Video’s NBA crew post-retirement.”
Following his retirement from the National Basketball Association (NBA), John Wall has joined Prime Video’s NBA crew under their new 11-year rights deal. Wall began his post-playing career by joining the broadcast team already featuring Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki as lead analysts, and Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, and Candace Parker rotating between the studio and commentary.
Although Wall has only limited broadcasting experience with two G League Winter Showcase games for ESPN and NBA TV last year, he considers the career shift to be a chance to channel his lifelong passion for basketball into a new form. He joked that becoming a broadcaster would at least prevent him from commenting on games non-stop when watching basketball at home.
John Wall had an 11-season career in the NBA, most of which were played with Washington Wizards, where he became the franchise’s star. He was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in 2010, averaging 18.7 points and 8.9 assists across his career, earning five consecutive All-Star selections. Despite injuries curbing his prime years, Wall made remarkable contributions to the league and now looks forward to his next career chapter in sport.
