Johnny Gaudreau’s Mother Pens Emotional Tribute to Late Sons on Instagram | NHL News Times of India
The mother of Johnny Gaudreau, Jane Gaudreau, shared a touching Instagram post on Friday in memory of her late sons, Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. Jane’s heartfelt words expressed the acute grief and loss she feels every day, despite her ability to smile and laugh.
Jane posted an image on Instagram from the account “3213 Keepsake Lane,” which read: “I miss you… even on the days I grin, laugh, and when I seem to be doing well.” She began the letter with, “Dear John & Matty,” and concluded with, “Love, Mom, I miss you always.” The sincere post resonated with many followers who expressed their condolences and support.

Tragically, Johnny and his younger brother Matthew died in an accident on August 29, 2024. They were cycling near their Oldmans Township, New Jersey home when they were hit by drunk driver Sean M. Higgins. The tragedy occurred on the eve of their sister Katie’s wedding.
Higgins faces numerous charges including vehicular homicide, manslaughter, reckless driving, tampering with evidence, and leaving the scene of the accident. He pleaded not guilty in January 2025, refusing a plea deal of 35 years. If convicted, he could serve up to 70 years in prison.
During Katie Gaudreau’s wedding, the family found touching ways to include Johnny and Matthew in the festivities. The groom and the groomsmen wore socks with the brothers’ numbers — 13 and 21. Inside the suit of Katie’s father were photographs of Johnny and Matthew. At the reception, a video of Katie imitating Johnny’s famous dance moves was projected, causing emotional reactions from the attendees. The wedding served as a loving tribute to the late brothers, keeping their memory alive within the Gaudreau family.
