Kalen DeBoer confirms Jam Miller’s injury post-Alabama preseason scrimmage | NFL Updates – Times of India

The injury of Jam Miller, a senior running back for the Alabama Crimson Tide, was confirmed by head coach Kalen DeBoer following a preseason scrimmage. The injury occurred during the team’s final practice scrimmage on Saturday, August 16 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

DeBoer reported on Sunday, August 17 that Miller had suffered an upper body injury and needed to undergo a medical procedure that evening. The coach did not specify when Miller would be able to return to play, but assured that he should recover fully.

Miller, a crucial figure in Alabama’s running back group, ran for 668 yards and scored 7 touchdowns on 145 carries in 2024. He also contributed notably in the passing game. His absence could pose a significant challenge for the team, who would likely turn to Richard Young, Daniel Hill, and Louisiana transfer Dre Washington to fill in.

There are reports that Miller may have dislocated his collarbone and could be out for six to eight weeks. If this is the case, he would likely miss the first few games of the season, including the opening match against Florida State on August 30.

As Alabama prepares for their season opener against Florida State in Tallahassee, Coach DeBoer has expressed confidence in Young, Hill, Washington and freshman AK Dear, as each bring their unique strengths of power, vision or speed to the field. The Alabama offence will depend on these younger backs to step up in the interim until Miller’s return.
