KL Rahul, the Indian cricketer who plays for Delhi Capitals, has shared an entertaining story about his camaraderie with legendary England cricketer Kevin Pietersen. During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the two often joked around, leading Rahul to humorously complain to Pietersen’s wife, Jessica.

Both Rahul and Pietersen were part of the Delhi Capitals setup during the IPL. Their fun interactions on and off the field were greatly enjoyed by fans. In fact, Rahul said that what the fans saw online was just a fraction of the humorous exchanges between them.

On a YouTube podcast called 2 Sloggers, Rahul revealed that his wife, actor Athiya Shetty, teased him after seeing some of these banter clips on Delhi Capitals’ social media platforms. He said: “Our banter is different. He is a great sport. There was this video, and there were two-three times where I said something and DC posted it on Instagram. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy.’”

Rahul also alluded to a laughable incident at a dinner with Pietersen and his wife in the UK: “I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me for dinner and I told her, ‘Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me,’” he chuckled.

Their playful interactions added a unique charm to Delhi Capitals’ campaign in IPL 2025, with fans often treated to fun moments on social media. Initially critiquing Rahul’s cautious batting style in T20 matches, Pietersen later lauded him for his match-winning performances and fearless playing style during the season. Rahul maintained his good form during India’s tour of England, scoring 532 runs in 10 innings with two centuries and two half-centuries.
