The shooting incident involved rapper Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to ten years in prison for assault with a firearm among other charges. The new update is that Lanez has filed two petitions related to the shooting incident to proclaim his innocence. One of the petitions claimed it was not him, but Megan’s former friend, Kelsey Harris, who shot her. Lanez further argued that a security guard was a witness who confirmed he never shot Megan. A second petition from Lanez stated that his driver did not testify against him in the shooting incident.

However, both of Lanez’s appeals were rejected by the California Court of Appeals on August 12. Megan has not publicly commented on these developments, but her legal team has stated that Lanez was “tried and convicted by a jury of his peers.”
