Mark Normand’s Joking Call to Streamer Kam Patterson Sparks…
Stand-up comedian Mark Normand recently stirred up a debate online with a post about live-streamer IShowSpeed, attracting attention after he incorrectly addressed the streamer as Kam Patterson. The post, which began as a simple joke, escalated as fans argued over the clarification and construction of the joke.
Normand met IShowSpeed at a comedy club in New York City while the streamer was covering his Speed Does America Tour through live-stream. In a post following their comedic encounter, Normand called IShowSpeed “Kam Patterson,” causing an array of responses from fans.
The reactions started pouring in immediately, with fans pointing out Normand’s error. One fan even called the comedian “stupid” for his mistake while continuing to incorrectly pronounce the streamer’s name, whilst other comments reflected a mix of criticism, confusion and sarcasm.
The comedy continued as some fans decided to play along with the joke, with one fan tweeting, “It’s Kevin Hart.” Others expressed disbelief, with a fan saying, “aint no shot.”
Adding more to the comical incident, Normand responded to the comments, stating he had intentionally got the streamer’s name wrong to carry on with the joke. He seemed surprised that the fans couldn’t grasp his humor.
While fan reactions were amusing in their own right, many wondered why Normand had referred to IShowSpeed as Kam Patterson. After discussions among Reddit users, it turned out that IShowSpeed had performed Kam Patterson’s entire set, hence the comedian’s remark.
In a viral clip spreading across social media, IShowSpeed was seen at a meet with Mark Normand, where Normand had tried to write a script for Speed. Controversially, he suggested Speed to use a racial slur, an attempt at edgy comedy that led to comparisons of Speed’s style with confrontational and high-energy comedians like Kam Patterson.
