McDavid’s Potential Surprise Move to Secure the Cup: Glimpses from ESPN Insider | Times of India

Connor McDavid, the star of the Edmonton Oilers, is fully focused on winning the Stanley Cup in the upcoming season. Despite a disappointing loss to the Florida Panthers for the second consecutive year, McDavid, whose contract with the Oilers expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, has shown no signs of abandoning his team.

According to NHL insider John Shannon, McDavid might even consider taking a pay cut to remain with the Oilers. Shannon hypothesised a three to four-year deal, with a potentially lower compensation than expected, in order for the team to have a bigger budget to bring in free agents and other players. This yet unconfirmed speculation and the ensuing silence from both McDavid and the Oilers have caused a stir in the hockey world.

Away from the ice, McDavid prefers to maintain a low profile during the off-season. He was recently seen with his wife, Lauren Kyle, at teammate and friend Leon Draisaitl’s wedding in Italy. Draisaitl married actress Celeste Desjardins, and McDavid and Kyle seemingly enjoyed the celebration. However, McDavid’s main focus seems to remain on bringing the Stanley Cup to the Oilers in the next season.
