Michael Irvin issues stern advice to Dallas Cowboys post defeat against Baltimore Ravens | NFL Updates | Times of India
Michael Irvin didn’t hold back in expressing his concern for the Dallas Cowboys after their 31-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on August 16, 2025. Insisting that this was not a minor setback, he noted that this exhibits serious issues that can negatively impact their real season performance. Irvin outlined five warnings they should pay attention to after their preseason loss.
1. The run defense is in crisis: Irvin pointed out that backup running backs Rasheen Ali and Diontae Johnson combined had over 120 rushing yards, indicating flaws in defense. He warned that if they were to play against a leading star like Derrick Henry, they might end up giving around 300 yards.
2. Offense should score more: According to Irvin, Dallas needs to ensure a score of 35 points in every game. A score of 28 or 30 would not suffice in winning enough games.
3. Preseason matters more for Cowboys: He emphasized that unlike teams like the Philadelphia Eagles or Kansas City Chiefs who have identified their playing style, The Cowboys need to use the preseason period for building their identity and gaining confidence.
4. Deliver on Training Camp Promises: Irvin reminded that the Dallas Cowboys promised to run well and stop the run during the training camp, but currently, they were failing at both.
5. Show improvement by Week 3: Week 3 of the preseason was marked as a ‘must-see’ test. By this time, Irvin expected the team to show some promising improvements.
Despite recording two interceptions, the loss to the Ravens sparked serious concerns about the team’s upcoming performance. The slow offense, poor defense, and lack of a clear identity were some of the areas Irvin identified as needing immediate improvement.
