The Los Angeles Lakers have signed their star player, 26-year-old Luka Dončić, to a three-year, $165 million contract extension, marking a new era for the franchise. However, this move may lead to tough roster decisions, with forward Rui Hachimura possibly emerging as a potential trade candidate.

The Lakers’ front office, led by Rob Pelinka, has been busy shaping the roster for the 2025–26 season. In addition to Dončić’s extension, they have added significant pieces in free agency, including former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton and 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart.
