NBA News: Adem Bona Learns Rookie Ropes Through Andre Drummond’s locker Room Pranks
Philadelphia 76ers’ Adem Bona found himself the subject of a humorous rookie prank when he discovered his car full of popcorn post-practice. One of his car tires had also been removed by his teammates and placed inside the locker room.
The prank was orchestrated by veteran teammate Andre Drummond, with other teammates including Joel Embiid and Kelly Oubre Jr. participating. The players were caught on camera laughing as Bona became the target of their prank, serving as a playful reminder of the unwritten rookies’ rules in the NBA.
Despite Adem Bona having played 58 matches in his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Andre Drummond insisted that Bona will continue to be considered a rookie until his second season starts. As Bona prepares for his second season, his teammates decided to send him off with one memorable prank.
In a video, Drummond is heard commenting: “This is what happens when you don’t follow instructions,” while pointing to Bona’s tire on a chair. Bona, looking surprised, is heard remarking that he was no longer a rookie – to which Drummond informs him to “get off the table,” as Joel Embiid laughs in the background, amusingly enjoying the prank.
The prank continues with Drummond and Kelly Oubre Jr. heading to Bona’s vehicle, where they joyously scoop popcorn and make light of the prank. Drummond also lightly cautioned rookie V.J. Edgecombe that he might be next if he does not follow their directives.
In other news, Adem Bona’s second season is expected to commence next Wednesday when the Philadelphia 76ers encounter the Boston Celtics. The promising 22-year-old player had a commendable rookie year, averaging 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while scoring 70.3 percent.
Despite a tough season for the Sixers last year due to injuries to star players Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Jared McCain, they finished with a 24-58 record and secured the No.3 pick in the draft which was used to select V.J. Edgecombe.
Such pranks are apparently a tradition in the NBA. Just a year ago, Cleveland Cavaliers’ rookie Jaylon Tyson found his car also filled with popcorn. The unspoken message to the rookies is clear: follow the veterans’ rules or prepare to be humorously penalized. For Bona, this was an amusing lesson he will not soon forget.
