NBA Star Kevin Durant Claps Back at Golden State Warriors Fans Amid Contract Talk

Recently, NBA star Kevin Durant was involved in an intense verbal exchange with Golden State Warriors fans. Durant, who now plays for the Houston Rockets, famously responds to critics and dislikes from fans and this particular incident was no different. Since his recent trade to the Rockets, reports suggest Durant might sign a contract extension worth $122 million, desired by the team for him to stay for an extended period.

However, some hesitation from the Rockets has been observed regarding Durant’s contract extension. This could be due to Durant now being a 36-year-old player in the league. Despite the Rockets’ hesitation, Durant remains one of the NBA’s greatest players.

A contentious exchange between Durant and Golden State Warriors fans came when Durant responded to a thread saying, “Finally, it’s been 10 years, bout time that they win one lmao”. This led to a discussion about why Warriors fans hold resentment against Durant, to which he responded, “Them finals Mvps, they will never recover.” Durant helped the Warriors win two championships in 2017 and 2018, but this has not lessened criticism from their fans.

There are still hard feelings among NBA fans over his departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Warriors line-up which consisted of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. This trio remained undefeated until Durant suffered an Achilles injury and Thompson tore his ACL during the 2019 finals.

Despite the rumors of a possible $122 million contract extension, ESPN’s Tim MacMohan reports that the Rockets do not seem keen to go all-in on an extension for Durant. According to MacMohan, “The Rockets aren’t gonna go all-in, by all appearances and by what I’ve heard, they’re not going all-in on an extension for KD. Now, doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but there’ve been rumblings KD’s not gonna push for the full max. I don’t know that the Rockets are going to put anything on the table that’s close to the max. I think the Rockets are — like it’s not ideal — but I don’t think they’d panic if they go into the season with KD just on the contract that he’s on, just on the expiring.”

While nothing is confirmed yet, these rumors continue to circulate in the basketball world.
