NFL Player Jimmie Ward Faces $20M Lawsuit Over Alleged Assault and Choking of Child’s Mother | Times of India
Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward is facing a lawsuit that could significantly impact his professional football career. The mother of Ward’s three-year-old child has filed a civil suit accusing him of physical and sexual assault. The lawsuit, filed in Harris County, Texas, seeks over $20 million in damages. It alleges that Ward committed the assaults while under the influence of methamphetamine.
In addition to this lawsuit, Ward is facing an ongoing criminal case, placing his NFL career in serious jeopardy. The lawsuit is based on two separate incidents that allegedly took place in 2025. The first in April at Ward’s townhome in the Galleria area and the second one in June at the woman’s home in Montgomery County.
The accuser claims that Ward slapped, choked, threatened to kill her, and forced a sexual act while their three-year-old child was present and Ward was under the influence of crystal meth. She seeks more than $20 million in damages for the alleged physical and emotional harm caused.
Ward, who signed with the Texans in 2023 following a nine-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers, is also facing criminal charges from his arrest in Montgomery County in June. He was charged with third-degree felony domestic violence, with the case set to go before a grand jury in August 2025.
While out on bond, Ward was arrested again in early August for allegedly violating his bond conditions. He reportedly contacted the accuser and tested positive for alcohol, thus complicating his legal situation.
Both Jimmie Ward and the Houston Texans have not publicly commented on the lawsuit. The NFL also hasn’t announced any disciplinary action, though it regularly investigates off-field misconduct under its personal conduct policy due to the serious nature of the allegations. If the courts rule against him, Ward faces the possibility of both financial and legal consequences.
As of now, these remain allegations laid out in both civil and criminal filings, and Ward has not been convicted of any crime. The lawsuit, however, paints a troubling picture that is already casting a shadow over Ward’s reputation and NFL career.
