NFL Week 2 Injuries: Notable Impacts on Brock Purdy, Xavier Worthy, James Cook
The second week of the NFL season has seen a host of injuries that could affect outcomes across the league. Notable injuries include Buffalo Bills’ Running back James Cook, San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, and Kansas City receiver Xavier Worthy.
San Francisco is faced with the challenge of playing without Brock Purdy, their quarterback, who is sidelined by both turf toe and a shoulder injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan disclosed that Purdy could be absent for anywhere between two to five weeks. Consequently, Mac Jones will start instead of Purdy. Receiver Jauan Jennings’ shoulder issue makes him questionable, while left tackle Trent Williams might also not play due to a knee injury.
New York in their battle against Dallas can count on rookie wideout, Malik Nabers who, in spite of back pain, has been practicing and is likely to play. On the other hand, left tackle Andrew Thomas’ game status remains doubtful due to a foot injury.
Buffalo Bills’ running back James Cook, following two complete practice sessions late in the week, should be available to play despite a hamstring challenge. Christian Gonzalez of the Patriots will not participate due to a hamstring injury, which could stress their match against Miami, where Dolphins’ receiver Jaylen Waddle – after a shoulder issue – is likely to play following a full return to practice.
Denver notes two players on the injury report: Dre Greenlaw and Evan Engram. Greenlaw, a linebacker, is not likely to play due to a hamstring injury. However, he took part in some late week practice. Tight end Evan Engram, who sustained a calf injury in Week 1, fully participated in practise and should play.
Kansas City receiver Xavier Worthy got a shoulder injury in Week 1 which makes his chances of participating against Philadelphia slim, as Andy Reid, head coach, disclosed. Consequently, Hollywood Brown and Travis Kelce would bear more responsibilities.
For Philadelphia, although guard Landon Dickerson should play having practiced fully, a knee injury rules out Dallas Goedert, rendering a major setback in Jalen Hurts’ passing game.
