Paige Bueckers’ Historic Rookie Season Threatens Caitlin Clark’s Record | NBA News Times of India
Caitlin Clark’s records are under threat as Paige Bueckers continues to make history with her impressive WNBA rookie campaign. The Dallas Wings guard has become the fastest WNBA rookie to score 500 points and 100 assists in just 27 games.
In her recent match against the Los Angeles Sparks, even though the Sparks were victorious by a single point, Bueckers was a standout performer scoring 29 points with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Despite this loss, Bueckers maintained her streak of scoring 10 points or more in every match and broke the franchise’s record for the most assists by a rookie.
Although Clark currently leads the Rookie Leaderboard with 769 points, Bueckers is expected to surpass the top WNBA rookie player if she maintains her current performance level.
Bueckers continues to impress despite Dallas Wings’s losses. Her streak of scoring at least 10 points extends to 27 consecutive matches. Additionally, she broke the franchise’s record for the most number of assists by a rookie in a single season with a total of 143 assists. This accomplishment also positions her as the seventh-highest assist leader in franchise history.
Not only has Bueckers been breaking franchise records, she has also been making history in the WNBA, becoming the quickest rookie to accumulate 500 points.
In response to Sophie Cunningham’s comments regarding the referee’s bias towards Bueckers, she commented that “Everyone is entitled to their own unique personal opinion.” It seems that Bueckers is not allowing distractions to affect her, as she continues her historic rookie campaign with potentially more records to break.
