Possible Replacements from Eagles’ Depth Chart for Injured Star Guard Landon Dickerson
Eagles Pro-Bowl guard Landon Dickerson was carried off on a cart due to a right-leg injury during Sunday’s open practice, causing worries about the team’s depth.
Philadelphia Eagles fans were shocked when left guard Landon Dickerson suffered a right-leg injury during open practice at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday (August 10). This incident has led many to question how this will affect the team’s depth chart.
“Eagles three-time Pro-Bowl guard Landon Dickerson was carted off the practice field Sunday night with a leg injury, unable to put any weight on it,” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter posted on social media.
According to ESPN, Landon Dickerson was unable to walk shortly after the injury and was carted off the field by trainers for a medical evaluation. The game was supposed to be an auction to fundraise for the Eagles Autism Foundation, and the thousands of fans present at the venue were taken aback by the injury.
While he wasn’t placed on the team’s injury list on Sunday, he had been limited in practice on Saturday because of a knee issue. The team has not confirmed a connection between the two instances, and head coach Nick Srianni only confirmed that the player is currently under evaluation. Dickerson had faced a similar injury in the other leg during the 2024 postseason which required an offseason surgery.
Landon Dickerson is an essential part of the Eagles’ offensive line. The three-time Pro-Bowler was drafted 37th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021 from Alabama. He signed an extension worth $87 million with the Eagles last year, becoming one of the NFL’s highest-paid guards.
After his injury on Sunday, Brett Toth took over Dickerson’s spot. He had previously filled in during training camp and has played in 20 career games with two starts, as reported by NBC Sports Philadelphia. Matt Pryor and Darian Kinnard could be potential replacements, while Tyler Steen remains the starting right guard.
The team will resume training this week, and an update on Dickerson’s condition is expected shortly.
