Reason Behind Eagles Security Chief’s $75K Fine during Preseason Game against Jets

Dom DiSandro, the Philadelphia Eagles’ head of security, has been fined $75,000 by the NFL for texting from the bench area during a preseason game against the New York Jets. This is not the first time DiSandro has been subjected to NFL fines. According to Bleacher Report, he was previously fined $100,000 and suspended after a sideline altercation with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

DiSandro’s fine is in violation of NFL rules, that prohibit the use of cell phones or other personal electronic devices by players, coaches, and most team staff from 90 minutes before the game starts until the game’s end. The rules are strict enough to warrant a fine even for the use of such devices during halftime. The only exception to this rule is for communication that involves conveying injury details or ensuring non-competitive communication by the football operation personnel.

Despite the fines, DiSandro maintains his respected position within the Eagles’ organization. The 2025 campaign marks his 27th season with the Eagles, where he plays a visible and popular role on the sidelines. DiSandro also serves as the team’s chief security officer and the senior advisor to the general manager, Howie Roseman. However, the latest $75,000 fine means that his paycheck will have to take another hit.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been fined heavily for various infractions over the past year. For instance, NFL fined Saquon Barkley (RB) $46,371 for unnecessary roughness/use of the helmet on a play where no flag was even called. This was reported by USA Today. The latest penalty imposed on DiSandro only adds to the existing financial stress for the organization.

The Eagles are heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Rams with a 2-0 track record for the season. Fans will be watching closely to see if DiSandro, also popularly known as “Big Dom,” can avoid getting in trouble.
