Reasons Ousmane Dembele May Skip 2025 Ballon d’Or Event.
There’s speculation that Ousmane Dembele, a favorite to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award, might miss the ceremony in Paris due to a scheduling conflict. Paris Saint Germain’s match against Marseille has been delayed to Monday evening, and the Ballon d’Or event is set to begin at 12:30 AM IST on Tuesday.
The match was delayed as a result of extreme weather conditions in southern France, with the PSG-Marseille fixture now slated for 11:30 PM IST on Monday night. Despite this, there’s still a chance Dembele may attend the ceremony, as he was resting due to a hamstring injury sustained during international duty last month. Desire Doue and Joao Neves, fellow PSG players and injury sufferers, might also be in attendance.
The nominees for the Men’s Ballon d’Or 2025 include players such as Jude Bellingham, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Denzel Dumfries, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk among others. Some of the nominated players, including Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz, may miss the event due to the clash with their Marseille match. PSG’s head coach, Luis Enrique, is also a nominee for the Coach of the Year award.
