Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr will compete against India’s FC Goa and teams from Iraq (Alzawra’a) and Tajikistan (FC Istiklol) in Group D of the AFC Champions League Two, drawn on Friday. If Ronaldo remains in good form, he could play his first match against an Indian club. However, the possibility of playing in India remains uncertain due to a clause in his contract that limits travel for away matches in the tournament.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo is set to feature in the home match in Riyadh against FC Goa, following the home and away format of the group stage. This encounter is expected to be a standout moment in FC Goa’s history since its founding in 2014.

Another Indian team, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, is placed in Group C of the tournament alongside Sepahan SC (Iran), Al Hussein (Jordan), and Ahal FC (Turkmenistan).

FC Goa secured their spot by defeating Oman’s Al Seeb 2-1, with goals scored by Dejan Drazic and Javier Siverio. Mohun Bagan SG qualified after winning the 2024/25 ISL Shield.

Ronaldo in continental events

Last year, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr competed in the AFC Champions League Elite. Ronaldo participated in three away games but was absent for two, including the round-of-16 away match, due to injury. He played against Esteghlal FC, Al-Gharafa, and Yokohama FM abroad.

Over the summer, there were rumors regarding Ronaldo’s move to the USA ahead of the next year’s FIFA World Cup. However, he ended the speculation by signing a new contract with Al Nassr.
