Sachin Advocates Recognising Talent at Grassroots as ISPL…

The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) has announced a new and pivotal move for tennis-ball cricket in India. This initiative comprises a national competitive framework that will strengthen grassroots development, creating a path from local matches to national recognition. The plan involves a new League Affiliation Model and Zonal Panel Structure, spreading governance across eight regions. This decentralised model aims to ensure equal opportunity and consistent talent identification.

Prominent cricket player and ISPL Core Committee Member Sachin Tendulkar supported the initiative, elaborating its capacity for change. He commented, “Identifying talent at the grassroots is the first step towards building a robust future for the game. ISPL’s new structure offers clear pathways for players from all over India to cultivate their skills and present their talent on a larger platform.”

The framework will create eight zonal panels to govern cricketing activities in their respective regions. The regions will be based in cities such as Mumbai, Srinagar, Kolkata, and will cover territories including Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Odisha, and many others. The panels will be headed by franchise owners, assisted by scouting heads, tournament representatives, and operations teams.

ISPL Commissioner, Suraj Samat, emphasized the league’s vision to identify and nurture new talent while bolstering the wider cricketing ecosystem. Meanwhile, Ashish Shelar, another ISPL Core Committee member, underscored the benefits of establishing firm structures in sporting events. This approach contributes to fortifying the sporting ecosystem and ensuring continual growth.

The framework also includes opportunities for local tournaments to affiliate, a grading system based on player’s performances, and maintaining live rankings on the ISPL app and website. These initiatives lay a strong foundation for the development of the sport and provide aspiring athletes with chances to be recognized on a national level. The league is all set to uplift the landscape of tennis-ball cricket by making it more accessible and appealing to future generations.
