San Jose Sharks Celebrities’ Wild Swings Challenge Giants at Oracle Park | The Times of India
The Ice Hockey World Championship, 2025, witnessed a powerful game between Macklin Celebrini of Canada and Finland. In addition to the hockey field, both Celebrini and fellow player Will Smith from the San Jose Sharks demonstrated their sporting spirit in the baseball field at Oracle Park on September 8, 2025. They replaced their hockey sticks with baseball bats to practice with the San Francisco Giants.
Following this exciting crossover, the Sharks organization took to their official account to share the news. The shared image of Celebrini and Smith in the Giants uniform created quite a stir among fans. Insights into the event were covered extensively by Bay Area media, including an article by Evan Webeck of The Mercury News.
During their visit, both players wore custom San Francisco Giants jerseys and worked out in team gear. They received tips to get comfortable with the game from Giants hitting coach Pat Burrell, outfielder Drew Gilbert, and infielder Christian Koss. Both players managed to strike balls up to the warning track, but couldn’t manage a home run.
Giants manager Bob Melvin lauded their athleticism, especially their hand-eye coordination. He humorously added that the players were likely low-ball hitters, given their hockey background. Up until September 9, 2025, there have been no new follow-up sessions or related activities reported. The focus has now shifted back to the Sharks training camp.
