Scotty Pippen Jr. is eagerly waiting for the upcoming NBA season and has confidence in his abilities. “This year is going to be very important for me,” he commented in an interview with TMZ Sports. During a conversation at LAX, the Memphis Grizzlies guard revealed his optimism, suggesting his forthcoming third NBA season could be a pivotal moment in his professional journey.
He has spent a significant amount of time training in Los Angeles, preparing for the Grizzlies’ new season. Pippen Jr. is extremely positive about his development, saying, “I feel as though I’ve advanced in my career.” Following a strong 2023-24 season with Memphis, during which he averaged nearly 10 points per game, Pippen’s confidence is at an all-time high.
Playing with the Clippers during his rookie NBA season of 2022-23, he’s now aiming to capitalize on that momentum with the Grizzlies. Moreover, he’s not just optimistic about his own performance, but also has high hopes for the Grizzlies’ potential. Believing they’re being overlooked, he narrates, “That has been the narrative for the past few years.” Pippen clearly wants to make an impact in Memphis.
Interestingly, he shared some insights about the spelling difference between his and his dad’s names. During his appearance on the show ‘Run It Back’, he mentioned that his father, Scottie Pippen, was originally named ‘Scotty Maurice Pippen Sr.’, but as he gained fame in the NBA, he transitioned to spelling his name as “Scottie” for simplicity during autograph sessions. However, the younger Pippen chose to stick with the original “Scotty” spelling.
