Suryakumar Yadav Shines: Ex-India Player Details How the Star…
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has praised Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of the Indian cricket team, for his effective strategy during the first T20I match against Australia. According to Chopra, Yadav’s unconventional shots made the Australian bowlers rethink their plans, which eventually led them into his trap.
In the opening match of the five-game series, held at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday, play was interrupted by rain twice. At the time of the interruption, India had an impressive 97/1 in 9.4 overs, with Yadav not out on 39 off of 24 balls, and Shubman Gill also not out, holding 37 off of 20.
Chopra spoke to Star Sports about Yadav’s gameplay, saying that his understanding of the game allows him to manipulate the field and the strategies of the bowlers. His unique approach to batting forced bowlers to deviate from their plans, leading them into what Chopra describes as a trap.
It is notable to mention that Yadav’s performance in the match included three fours and two sixes. Additionally, he reached a personal milestone by becoming the fastest cricketer to hit 150 sixes in T20 Internationals, achieving this feat in just 86 innings.
Chopra praised Yadav’s rare ability to generate power even with his unorthodox technique, stating it’s an unusual skill. He added that Yadav’s impressive scoring, despite the risks involved with his unique technique, has kept him a dominant force in the T20 format for quite some time.
Chopra also mentioned that Yadav’s strong performance is essential for maintaining his leadership role in the team, adding that it was crucial for the captain to show his prowess in what he referred to as “his Surya avatar”. He remarked that Yadav’s superb performance, despite some hiccups, would undoubtedly boost his leadership in the future.
