Swift Retribution: Fans Rejoice as C.J Gardner Johnson Faces Consequence for Insulting Stars” | NFL News Times of India
C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a safety for the Houston Texans, suffered a recent leg injury during practice, causing a frenzy on social media. The controversy arose not because of his performance on the field, but rather due to reactions from Taylor Swift fans who remembered a vulgar comment he made about the singer and Travis Kelce earlier this year.
In a recall of his explicit Super Bowl remarks, the Texans head coach, DeMeco Ryans, expressed concern for Gardner-Johnson, saying, “It’s heartbreaking when you see a guy go down on the field like that and doesn’t get up quickly. I’m always nervous as a head coach any time I see someone hit the ground.” Fortunately, reports indicate Gardner-Johnson didn’t tear his ACL during the practice.
Back in February, after the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl win over Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs, Gardner-Johnson wore a hoodie with offensive language targeted at Swift’s fans during the victory parade. He then took a jab at Kelce’s relationship implying that the Chiefs might have done better if he had stayed with his ex, Kayla Nicole. Swift’s fan base did not take kindly to these comments and when Gardner-Johnson was traded from the Eagles to the Texans in March, many labeled it as ‘karma’.
Fans immediately took to social media when news of Gardner-Johnson’s injury surfaced, with many Swift fans referencing his earlier indiscretions and dubbing the event as “karma”. Though some gloated over the news, others balanced their reactions with well-wishes for his recovery. Regardless, for many, this event seemed like an ironic twist for those who remember Gardner-Johnson’s post-Super Bowl remarks.
