The controversy arose not because of his performance on the field, but rather due to reactions from Taylor Swift fans who remembered a vulgar comment he made about the singer and Travis Kelce earlier this year.

In a recall of his explicit Super Bowl remarks, the Texans head coach, DeMeco Ryans, expressed concern for Gardner-Johnson, saying, “It’s heartbreaking when you see a guy go down on the field like that and doesn’t get up quickly. I’m always nervous as a head coach any time I see someone hit the ground.” Fortunately, reports indicate Gardner-Johnson didn’t tear his ACL during the practice.
