Travis Hunter’s Two-Way NFL Future in Doubt Following Knee Injury”
Travis Hunter, a player for the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been placed on injured reserve (IR) due to a knee injury. Hunter, a wide receiver and cornerback, injured his knee during a practice session on Thursday, according to Jaguars coach Liam Coen. He is set to miss at least the next four games. The severity of the damage to his knee and the estimated recovery period are currently being assessed.
Prior to his injury, Hunter was experiencing a mixed start to his rookie NFL season. Over the course of seven games, he has achieved 28 catches for 298 yards and scored one touchdown. As a defensive player, he has made 15 tackles and broken up three passes.
The injury came just as Hunter was starting to find his stride. During a match against the Los Angeles Rams in London, Hunter delivered his best game yet, managing 8 catches for 101 yards and one touchdown – all career high scores.
Originally drafted second overall, Hunter joined the Jaguars with the ambition of being a rare full-time player, contributing to both offensive and defensive plays. Prior to the injury, he had played 305 snaps on the offense and 154 on defense.
Future plans to enlarge Hunter’s role on the offensive team, initiated following their bye week, have been put on hold due to his injury. Despite current setback, Coach Coen remains optimistic about Hunter’s recovery and his potential future contributions. With Hunter out, the team will be relying on Brian Thomas Jr. and other younger receivers to step up. The return of Hunter is contingent on the healing process of his knee, with a minimum absence of four games before potentially rejoining the team.
