Unfolding the Mystery Behind Boxing Icon Ricky Hatton’s Death

Ricky Hatton, former boxing world champion, has died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 46. The Briton was found dead in his home in Hyde, northwest England. While online speculation surrounds the cause of his death, authorities indicate there is nothing suspicious to report.

Known as “The Hitman”, Hatton won the IBF, WBA, and WBO light-welterweight titles and the IBO welterweight belt. He won 45 of his 48 professional fights since his career started in 1997. Hatton recently had plans for a comeback fight in Dubai against Eisa Al Dah on December 2nd.

Hatton has openly discussed his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, which included numerous attempts at suicide and a public rift with his family. He survived an overdose in 2012 following his defeat to Vyacheslav Senchenko and underwent rehab for cocaine addiction in 2010. His last professional fight was in 2012.

His untimely passing has triggered tributes from many quarters, including his lifelong club Manchester City FC and fellow British boxer, Tyson Fury. They both expressed their sadness at the news.

At present, the cause of Hatton’s death remains unconfirmed with a post-mortem examination set to be performed. Police haven’t provided further details beyond confirming the discovery of the body.
