Verstappen Secures Pole Position, McLaren Outshines Ferrari…

Max Verstappen secured the pole position at the Italian Grand Prix qualifiers in Monza. The Red Bull driver will be accompanied in the front row by Lando Norris, with his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri taking up the third starting position for Sunday’s race.

Although Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari had dominated Friday’s practice, they failed to secure a top three finish in the qualifiers. Verstappen hailed his pole position as a “great moment,” noting the difficulty to excel with the low downforce at Monza.

While Leclerc, last year’s Monza winner at Ferrari’s home race, will start the race from fourth position, Hamilton will commence from fifth. The Ferrari duo are followed by the Mercedes pair, George Russell in sixth and Kimi Antonelli in seventh.

Meanwhile, there were disappointments for Carlos Sainz of Williams and Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls. Despite impressive performances in the Friday practice sessions, Sainz could not secure better than the 13th position, while Hadjar suffered the first-ever Q1 exit of his F1 career.

The final race of the Italian Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 3 pm local time on Sunday, with weather predictions suggesting dry and warm conditions.
